Hello from the road. Today: Pittsburgh. A pretty city with lots of river running through, and bridges over. Steve and I went on a Whole Foods store quest yesterday to stock our cooler with food, and ice borrowed later from the hotel ice machine. We were successful! Small victories. This day we will try to locate: Barnes and Noble.

It's strange to become so dependent on chain stores...one comes to understand their appeal when traveling with limited time and energy to spend hunting around. Starbucks doesn't look like the huge evil from this side of the road, when the jones sets in for coffee that doesn't have all the jitter-inducing potential of speed, and all the flavor of the 'coffee' i made as a kid from dirt and stream water.... lemme tell you. I know I'm an addict talking..and I'm not proud. Also, I know this is incendiary stuff. I prefer the cool local place! And it feels so good when we find them. We look for them when we can. Trying to limit impact, expenditure, and still make this touring thing feel like it's fun and easy enough to do for a long time.

So far great shows on this one! Thank you to everyone who's been making us Weepies feel so welcome. More later. Check out the more oft-updated Weepies journal for pix and thoughts: www.theweepies.com click on Photo Journal. Cheerio readers! See you soon. XO, Deb

No big thoughts for summer. The heat has made my brain lazy. Going from air-conditioning to searing heat has had the effect on my thoughts that a good back and forth from hot tub to cold has on a body---sort of relaxed and exhausted feeling. VERY much looking forward to getting out on the road again and playing shows. I find I become a little crazy not playing out for people. The back and forth, the relationship that's created by live performance is sort of un-reproducable in "normal" life...and though living out of a suitcase for a couple of months is daunting, it means there's less laundry! Hope to see some of you out there.
